Florida Clothing-Optional Guide: Resorts and Beaches

By ClothesSuck Editorial Team · Last reviewed 2026-08-31

Florida is the densest clothing-optional resort market in the United States, and its centre of gravity is not the coastline but the Tampa area, where Paradise Lakes, Caliente Club and Resort, Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Eden RV Resort sit within a short drive of one another. Add Cypress Cove near Kissimmee, Sunsport Gardens at Loxahatchee, Sunny Sands at Pierson, Suwannee Valley at White Springs and Hidden Lake in the panhandle at Jay, and you have nine year-round clothing-optional resorts in one state — every one of them with day access available or available on approval. The beaches are the smaller half of the story: Haulover Beach in Miami-Dade and Blind Creek Beach in St. Lucie County are officially sanctioned clothing-optional beaches, while the Canaveral National Seashore stretches at Playalinda and Apollo are customary. Fourteen verified Florida places in total, verified 26 August 2026.

Which Florida beaches are officially clothing-optional?

Two. Haulover Beach in Miami Beach is the country''s best-known officially sanctioned clothing-optional beach, run as part of the Miami-Dade parks system with a parking fee and an adults-oriented crowd. Blind Creek Beach at Fort Pierce, in St. Lucie County, is the quieter sanctioned option: entry is free, though parking rules vary, and the crowd is mixed rather than adults-only. Between them they cover the two ends of the Florida experience — a big, busy, fully serviced urban beach and a low-key stretch of Treasure Coast sand.

The other two beaches we track sit inside Canaveral National Seashore and are tolerated rather than sanctioned. Playalinda Beach around the Lot 13 area near Titusville and Apollo Beach around Lot 5 near New Smyrna Beach both carry a park entry fee and a long custom of clothing-optional use at specific parking lots — but that use is not officially designated, and federal park rules govern the shoreline. Treat the lot number as the whole instruction: the tradition is tied to specific access points, not to the whole beach.

Why are so many nudist resorts clustered around Tampa?

The Land O'' Lakes and Lutz area north of Tampa is the historic core of American nudist resort development, and four of Florida''s nine resorts sit there: Paradise Lakes Resort and Caliente Club and Resort at Lutz and Land O'' Lakes respectively, both adults-only; Lake Como Family Nudist Resort at Lutz, one of the oldest continuously operating nudist resorts in the country and explicitly family-oriented; and Eden RV Resort at Hudson, an adults-only RV property just up the coast. That concentration is why Florida functions as a single destination for resort-hopping in a way no other US state does — you can compare several very different house styles in one trip without a long drive.

Away from Tampa, Cypress Cove Nudist Resort at Kissimmee is the Orlando-area option and the easiest to combine with a mainstream Florida holiday; Sunsport Gardens at Loxahatchee serves the Palm Beach side; Sunny Sands Resort at Pierson and Suwannee Valley Resort at White Springs sit in north-central Florida; and Hidden Lake Resort at Jay is the panhandle outlier. All nine are private, authorised properties, all operate year-round, and all show day access — Caliente''s is subject to approval.

When is the best time to visit Florida's clothing-optional resorts?

Every Florida place in our records is year-round, which makes the question about comfort rather than opening dates. The winter months are the state''s clothing-optional high season, when northern visitors arrive and the RV resorts fill — which is precisely why booking ahead matters most then. Summer brings heat, humidity and afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs through the late summer and autumn, so build flexibility into coastal plans. Key West''s Garden of Eden Rooftop Bar, the one nightlife entry in the set, is listed as year-round evenings and is an adults-only clothing-optional bar rather than a resort — a useful reminder that Florida''s clothing-optional map is not only beaches and RV parks.

Is Haulover Beach legally clothing-optional?

Yes. Haulover Beach in Miami Beach is an officially sanctioned clothing-optional beach within the Miami-Dade parks system — one of only two officially sanctioned nude beaches in our Florida records, alongside Blind Creek Beach in St. Lucie County. There is a parking fee, and the clothing-optional area is a defined section of the park rather than the whole beach.

How many nudist resorts are there in Florida?

We currently verify nine clothing-optional resorts in Florida: Paradise Lakes, Caliente, Lake Como and Eden RV in the Tampa area, Cypress Cove near Kissimmee, Sunsport Gardens at Loxahatchee, Sunny Sands at Pierson, Suwannee Valley at White Springs and Hidden Lake at Jay. All nine are private, authorised properties open year-round with day access available.

Which Florida nudist resorts are family friendly?

Lake Como Family Nudist Resort at Lutz, Cypress Cove at Kissimmee, Sunsport Gardens at Loxahatchee, Sunny Sands at Pierson and Hidden Lake at Jay are catalogued as mixed or family-oriented. Paradise Lakes, Caliente, Eden RV and Suwannee Valley are adults-only, as are Haulover Beach and the two Canaveral National Seashore beaches.

Is Playalinda Beach a legal nude beach?

No — nudity at the Playalinda Lot 13 area and at Apollo Beach Lot 5 within Canaveral National Seashore is customary and long-practised, not officially designated. Both carry a park entry fee and are governed by federal park rules, so the tolerance is informal and tied to specific access points rather than to the whole shoreline.

Can you visit a Florida nudist resort without being a member?

Generally yes. All nine Florida resorts we verify list day access, with Caliente Club and Resort noting that day visits are subject to approval. Expect a first-visit registration, an entry fee, and photo-ID checks at most properties; contact the resort ahead of time rather than assuming walk-in entry.
